FiberTech: An Economical, High-Performance Load Distribution Solution

When rigidity is needed and weight is a concern, FiberTech™ Outrigger Pads are an ideal solution.

Available from DICA, a leader in outrigger pads, FiberTech™ Outrigger Pads effectively spread loads and create stability for equipment such as mobile cranes, concrete pump trucks, high reach aerial devices, rock crushers, mobile substations, and more.

With crush ratings of up to 600 psi and rated capacities up to 170,000 lbs., FiberTech Super Duty Outrigger Pads (formerly FiberMax® Heavy Duty) are an economical, high-performance load distribution solution. FiberTech Pads can be used alone, or as part of multi-pad set-up.

At least 13 layers of quad axial continuous glass fibers and vinyl ester resin give FiberTech Super Duty Outrigger Pads exceptional structural strength and stiffness. A 1″ thick FiberTech Pad weighs 25% less and delivers the same load distribution performance as a 3″ thick SafetyTech® Super Duty Outrigger Pad. “The name change from FiberMax to FiberTech makes it more intuitive for customers to compare these products,” said Kris Koberg, CEO of DICA. “FiberTech and SafetyTech Outrigger Pads are used for the same purpose, but are made from different materials,” he explained.

Hi-Viz yellow, FiberTech Outrigger Pads are non-conductive, waterproof, and chemical resistant. They feature DICA’s patented Hi-Viz TuffGrip® Handles to simplify handling. FiberTech 36″, 42″, and 48″ diameter sizes are standard stock products. Other sizes are available upon request.

In addition to applications in construction, crane and rigging, and utility markets, DICA works with engineering departments to develop solutions for custom applications and other site-specific challenges.

About DICA: In its early years, the DICA represented several manufacturing companies and supplied fiberglass utility bodies, aerial buckets, small excavating equipment, and electrical inverters to gas, electric, and telecom utilities. At that time there was a growing understanding that outrigger pads should be the foundation of outrigger-enabled equipment in order to assure proper load distribution. The early DICA mats and outrigger pads that were constructed to meet this need were largely made of wood or re-purposed cable reel ends. While these early outrigger pads were on the right path, many in the industry were concerned they didn’t quite hit the mark when it came to certain ground conditions, ease of use, weight, ergonomic safety, and lifespan. In other words, there was a need for a better mousetrap. Dick began developing an engineered outrigger pad that would ensure proper load distribution on a range of ground conditions and provide unbreakable strength. The company delivered its first of these outrigger pads in 1988 and has continued to lead the way in outrigger pad product innovation since. Today, our Made in the USA product line is used in 40+ countries and on 6 continents and includes Safety Tech® outrigger pads and RV jack pads as well as FiberMax® crane pads. With 30+ standard models in our line, we’re able to fit equipment with lifting capacities up to 600 tons or more, anywhere in the world.
